TAKE ACTION:

Tell the Senate Finance Committee to VOTE "YES" on the Healthy SC Amendment to the Budget

Please contact the Senate Finance Committee TODAY!

Senator Joel Lourie, D-Richland, Senator Ray Cleary, R-Horry, Senator Paul Campbell R- Berkeley, and Senator John Matthews, D-Orangeburg will offer an amendment during the budget debate that would allow South Carolina to take advantage of federal dollars to provide healthcare for Palmetto state residents who are at or below 138% of the federal poverty level. The amendment would establish “Healthy SC” and provide a private option plan for healthcare. The South Carolina Senate will take up the state’s 2015-2016 spending the week of April 13, 2015. We anticipate this amendment being debated as soon as Wednesday April 15, 2015.

Every day we delay action, South Carolina loses federal dollars that could provide healthcare for South Carolina residents.  Healthy SC would close that healthcare coverage gap through a public/private partnership that would allow these uninsured individuals to purchase much needed healthcare.

We at South Carolina Appleseed are proud to join with our partner organizations to help advocate for quality, affordable health care to all South Carolinians.

Contact members of the Senate Finance Committee and tell them to support the Lourie, Campbell, Cleary and Matthews’s amendment.

Tell them we must help get healthcare to all South Carolinians - we cannot afford to wait any longer!
